Have You Done Your Kick Counts?

Doing kick counts is the one way you can check on your baby's well-being for yourself at home. Starting at 28 weeks you should be counting baby's movements DAILY.

  • Try the same time each day when baby is most active. You should feel 10 kicks within 1 hour. If your baby is super active you might reach this within a few minutes.

  • If less than 10 kicks are felt, extend 1 more hour ensuring you've eaten and had something to drink

  • If you don't feel 10 kicks within that 2 hours you need to be seen by your medical provider IMMEDIATELY.
  • Playing music, talking to baby, and touching your tummy can also help encourage baby to move.

  • Movement is how our babies talk to us in the womb letting us know how they're doing. This can easily be done before getting out of bed in the morning, when laying down at night, while in the car running errands, or relaxing watching your favorite show.

  • Its so simple you can even do it more than once a day using it as your intentional bonding time with baby

  • Taking the time to listen to what baby is telling you through kick counts is important and has saved lives. It doesn't always take a medical team and technology. There are plenty of things you can do for yourself to have a better pregnancy and birth.
